Every One please stay away from Alibris.
I ordered 8th edition AP biology book. For my daughter, received regular biology book, non AP version, which is usually sold at half the price. After too much back and forth e- mails, i returned the book back, and they are refusing to refund the return postage, i spend, because of their mistake, i would say greediness. They said will offer me a ONE DOLLAR COUPON ON MY NEXT PURCHASE. After approx. 6-10 further back and forth e- mails, last i heard from them today that they will give a 16$ coupon on next purchase, what a joke, in this modern world apples should be compared to apples, i spent money, so i should be refund my money back. My business attorneys are handling the case from here, i do not mind spending money, but i will get justice. What is wrong is wrong |

I ordered a textbook a little over SIX weeks ago and it STILL hasn't arrived. This was a textbook for a class I'm taking. I spent a lot of money on textbooks so I can't afford to by a second one of a book I already bought. After month of stressing I finally complained only to have them tell me to wait 45 days after the shipping date before I contact them again. Customer service will bascially do nothing. All did when I complain about how bad their service is was give me a $1 coupon which really felt like a slap in the face. Please please please DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM THEM.

The site is easy to use, but if they don't get the correct items, it would be. Ordered a book, recieved a different book, there is no phone contact, and the return policy is nuts. They want to give you a coupon to get another wrong order, and you pay the frieght. Unbelieveable......

Do not order from this place. They charge you for books you do not recieve and charge you for the shipping even if you do not get the books. Then you get some half assed excuse that they can't stop the shipping charges from independent sellers. Do not buy from them. Save yourself a few dollars and order from Amazon

I purchased the following book which clearly stated text was in English as well as Latin. The book was only in Latin. When I contacted Customer Service to resolve the matter, they suggested I return the book but refused to acknowledge their product information was incorrect. I contacted them again requesting they correct the product information on their website, and again they refused to acknowledge their false advertisement. I will never buy anything from this company again, and will steer all of my acquaintances away from them.

Albris sent me the wrong book. When I wrote (twice) attempting to return the book and get a refund, they sent me some sort of form email instructing me to contact the seller directly. Naturally the seller never responded. I am now attempting to negotiate through my credit card company and stop payment.

I had a horrible experience buying from this company. They charged my credit card for a textbook which was not in the condition their website had stated. When I returned the book, they said the book was from eCampus.com and I must contact them. I emailed eCampus.com several times and did not receive a response. The refund was declined by Alibris because they said the condition was what they stated on their website. They took my $68 and kept the book! THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!

I am impressed by the variety of items on the web site. When it came time to order, my package never arrived, and I'm still in a long series of e-mails with cusotmer service. They won't refund my money for the non-sent item. Extremely disappointing.

On 12/23/09, I placed an online order for a book and received confirmation of my order(#32828843). I was charged for the full amount $62.24 but never received the book. I tried to contact the seller several times and, on 4/13/2010, received an email letting me know that another copy would be shipped. However, I have never received the package. My emails and my Better Business Bureau complaint have been ignored... I was never refunded the $62. I am furious that this company receives so many similar complaints, yet it is still operating.

I ordered a box set of books and the description was vague. I looked up the ISBN# to verify which books were in the set and placed the order based on the description and ISBN #. I received the box set and it only had 2 of the 4 books it was supposed to have, a third book that wasn't part of the box set and no 4th book at all. I complained and Alibris told me to take it up with the shipper. The shipper never replied to my e-mail. They have my money - they don't care. Alibris doesn't want to refund part of my money. Lesson learned NEVER BUY THROUGH ALIBRIS AGAIN. Just buy through e-bay - it's cheaper and you are dealing directly with the seller - no middle man to screw things up.

Do not order from Alibris Online store. I ordered two textbooks, and was charged multiple times on my credit card, and my textbooks have yet to arrive. I have also tried to contact the seller - Little Buddies - and they have not replied to my email. Alibris customer service contact information is difficult to access and replies are not answered. I strongly recommend that you avoid this website.

Please be careful when placing order with alibris. They are extremely slow in shipping and sometimes they claim that they have shipped, but the item will never arrive. The only offer a refund after 1 month of waiting and not receiving the item. Not to mention, they immediately charge your credit...

Horrible. Placed an order for a college textbook from Alibris through Half.com. Order was confirmed. The next day Alibris sent an email informing me that the order was shipped. Four days later an email arrived from Half.com telling me that I was getting a refund as the order could not be filled! This AFTER I was told the order had been shipped! Alibris never contacted me that there was a problem, the only notification I got was the refund notice from Half.com. All other books I ordered on the same day from different companies arrived! Alibris never contacted me that "the seller" made an error, made no contact at all Learned there was a problem because Half.com issued a refund. Result - no textbook - had to reorder at a higher cost, higher shipping - would NEVER use this company again.

The day after ordering a textbook, I received an email stating the order has shipped. Seven days later, I contacted Alibris to find out the status of my expedited shipment, and they replied: "Thanks for writing in. I have gone through the status of your order, your order has been refunded in full due to OUT OF STOCK. If you have any query related payment please contact with Alibris Clients Services because payment related issue solely handle by them only." They never notified me that they did not have the textbook but were eager enough to charge my credit card the day of ordering. And, after ten days, they still have not refunded my credit card. I finally had to dispute the charge with the credit card company.
A formal complaint was filed with the BBB (Golden Gate & Northern California). And, as always, it may prove prudent to check with the Federal Trade Commission for possible violation of interstate trade laws of the Wheeler-Lea Amendment and the Robinson-Patman Act for deceptive online practices including false representation, deceptive advertising and selling claims. Will I ever shop Alibris again: NOPE. |

I ordered a book with Alibris, it took 4 days to process, after which my order was canceled. This was an urgent matter, as I needed the book for a class which starts in a week, and the teacher just recently sent an email about this. The refund, it says, will take 2-3 weeks.
This is the most unreliable, unfriendly and in a bad sense "corporate" business that I have ever seen!!!! I will never buy anything from here again! If you want reliability, go to Amazon! Alibris maybe has some purpose for its existence, but obviously not if you need a textbook in 2 weeks! Alibris actually has a lot of rare books that even Amazon.com doesn't have and they're also a lot cheaper too! That's what made me first buy a book from them - I needed an art history book but was more than $100 on Amazon but only $35 (minus shipping) on Alibris!
HOWEVER! I paid EXTRA money for the book to be shipped within a week because classes already started and my professor said we'd need it within the next week. I thought it'd be a pretty quick job done since Alibris seemed very assuring. It's currently been OVER TWO WEEKS and I have NOT RECEIVED my book yet!!! I refuse to buy another book just to wait for the book I bought from Alibris to come later. If you are to buy from Alibris, make sure the seller is a good one. And maybe don't pay extra money for shipping. You might as well go somewhere that actually will bring your package on time. |

Alibris is just a middle man service. If problems occur, it's the individual seller you're dealing with. Some are excellent, some are not. I am happy to say I had a flawless transaction.
I searched everywhere for a used title and it was the only one out of my list that was priced well thru an Alibris seller. I used a $1 off promotional code that worked flawlessly. The seller emailed me within 12 hours to let me know my book was in the mail. It arrived four days later via USPS Media Mail. It was well packaged and exactly as described. Couldn't have been smoother. I'm very satisfied and highly recommend Daryl Beyers as a seller via Alibris. I always recommend contacting the individual seller to ask if they have the book in stock, etc. So that you can see if they contact you in a timely manner before you make a purchase. |
